it's wrong for packages to clobber files from other packages. xorg.conf is part of the xorg packages, so we can't do that. the installation scripts do inform the user of what they need to do, and that's the best solution we can come up with right now. fortunately, (estimating) 99% of users do seem to notice this and do the right thing. > I ran that command and was informed: > aticonfig: No supported adapters detected perhaps your particular model is no longer supported. you'll have to track down ATI's release notes to see whether that is the case or not. if not, the free driver is your best bet. > Checking the wiki, I ran "modprobe -r radeon".
