Package: gnome-control-center Version: 1:3.0.2-3+b1 Severity: normal Dear Maintainer,
In System Settings > Network > Wireless, when two saved wireless networks are given the same SSID (but, say, different configurations), and a network with that SSID is selected from the Network Name drop-down list, the system apparently chooses one of the configured networks arbitrarily and attempts to connect with it. - After connecting, the Network Name dropdown list only displays the connected network's SSID, so it's not possible to tell which configuration it decided to use. Perhaps it should use the user-editable label for the saved network instead. - If the connection succeeds---i.e. the system chose the correctly configured saved wireless network---clicking the "Options..." button can actually bring up the other network's settings! * Specifically, I have networks named GTwpa and GTwpa Broken, both with SSID GTwpa and configured as WPA & WPA2 Enterprise with PEAP authentication. GTwpa Broken has an incorrect username and so cannot connect succefully. * I've observed connection to either fail or succeed, however, when it does succeed, sometimes the "Options..." button brings up GTwpa Broken. * After I change the SSID for GTwpa Broken, disconnect, and reconnect, the "Options..." button correctly brings up configurations for GTwpa. To fix this, it first seems necessary either a) to prompt the user for the saved configuration that should be used or b) to cycle through all configurations with matching SSIDs in attempt to connect. Second, the "Options..." button needs to make sure it brings up settings for the configuration actually in use, not just the first thing it sees with a matching SSID. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.1.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_US.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_US.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages gnome-control-center depends on: ii accountsservice 0.6.15-2 ii apg 2.2.3.dfsg.1-2 ii desktop-file-utils 0.18-1 ii gnome-control-center-data 1:3.0.2-3 ii gnome-desktop3-data 3.2.1-3 ii gnome-icon-theme 3.2.1.2-1 ii gnome-icon-theme-symbolic 3.2.1-1 ii gnome-menus 3.2.0.1-2 ii gnome-settings-daemon 3.0.3-3+b1 ii gsettings-desktop-schemas 3.2.0-2 ii libatk1.0-0 2.2.0-2 ii libc6 2.13-23 ii libcairo-gobject2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcairo2 1.10.2-6.2 ii libcanberra-gtk3-0 0.28-3 ii libcanberra0 0.28-3 ii libcomerr2 1.42-1 ii libcups2 1.5.0-13 ii libdbus-1-3 1.4.16-1 ii libdbus-glib-1-2 0.98-1 ii libfontconfig1 2.8.0-3 ii libfreetype6 2.4.8-1 ii libgconf2-4 2.32.4-1 ii libgcrypt11 1.5.0-3 ii libgdk-pixbuf2.0-0 2.24.0-2 ii libglib2.0-0 2.30.2-4 ii libgnome-control-center1 1:3.0.2-3+b1 ii libgnome-desktop-3-2 3.2.1-3 ii libgnome-menu2 3.0.1-4 ii libgnomekbd7 3.2.0-1 ii libgnutls26 2.12.14-5 ii libgssapi-krb5-2 1.10+dfsg~alpha1-6 ii libgtk-3-0 3.2.2-3 ii libgtop2-7 2.28.4-2 ii libk5crypto3 1.10+dfsg~alpha1-6 ii libkrb5-3 1.10+dfsg~alpha1-6 ii libnm-glib4 0.9.2.0-1 ii libnm-util2 0.9.2.0-1 ii libpango1.0-0 1.29.4-2 ii libpolkit-gobject-1-0 0.103-1 ii libpulse-mainloop-glib0 1.0-4 ii libpulse0 1.0-4 ii libupower-glib1 0.9.15-1 ii libx11-6 2:1.4.4-4 ii libxi6 2:1.4.3-3 ii libxklavier16 5.1-2 ii libxml2 2.7.8.dfsg-5 ii zlib1g 1:1.2.3.4.dfsg-3 Versions of packages gnome-control-center recommends: ii gnome-session 3.2.1-1 ii gnome-user-guide 3.2.2-1 ii iso-codes 3.31-1 ii mousetweaks 3.2.1-1 ii policykit-1-gnome 0.105-1 Versions of packages gnome-control-center suggests: ii gnome-screensaver 3.2.0-2+b1 ii gstreamer0.10-pulseaudio 0.10.30-2.1 ii libcanberra-gtk-module 0.28-3 ii x11-xserver-utils 7.6+3 -- no debconf information -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
