Package: ftp.debian.org
Severity: normal

Hi

Because of #591102 (http://bugs.debian.org/591102), I have bumped the
priority of iw from "extra" to "optional", given that iw is recommended
by the optional package crda. It would be nice if you could adjust the
overrides accordingly.

iw replaces wireless-tools for modern nl80211 capable wlan drivers (it
can not configure legacy or staging drivers) and is needed both for
setting the local regulatory domain (access to channel 11-14 or 5 GHz
at all) and querying/ configuring wlan devices or adding virtual ones.

While there is an ongoing discussion[1] to bump it even further to
"standard", I don't think that would be justified[2] for the time being
(ever?) and consider "optional" to be the correct priority.

Regards
        Stefan Lippers-Hollmann
