In particular, it appears that this package should depend on grub-legacy.

When run from the command line (as root) it displays the following error

Could not find grub's menu.lst.
Please make sure you're using legacy grub (ie. not grub2)
Aborting.

However, there is an entry in the menu with the command

su-to-root -c /usr/sbin/grub-choose-default

In that case, apparently nothing at all happens.  I'm not sure if it is
because of the above error message or if it is because su-to-root (when run
from the terminal) is expecting you to enter the root password.  I'm not
sure if it does something helpful from the menu. I certainly didn't get an
authorization box like I do with gksu commands.
