I only intalled xfce4 and xfce4-goodies a couple of days ago in both
machines, when I noticed the problem. Before, I used gnome and I was quite
able to change the layout. After these problems, I tested gnome3 and my
three keyboard layouts (US, US international and Latin American) worked all
right.
