In my freshly installed wheezy with only debian packets
# cat /etc/apt/sources.list
deb http://ftp.de.debian.org/debian/ testing main non-free contrib

I'm not able to play any video (.mov, .wmv, .mp4). vlc crashes with:
#vlc some_video.mov
VLC media player 1.1.12 The Luggage (revision exported)
