"puredata" is a real package (though it only consists of dependencies on
the various puredata-* packages), so it's not 'provided' by puredata-core.

"pd" is a virtual package, provided by "puredata-core".

neither "puredata" nor "puredata-core" conflict with "pd".

i can do this without problems:
# apt-get remove --purge --auto-remove '^pd-.*$'  '^puredata-.*$'
# apt-get install pd-pdp

which will install the entire "puredata" suite (puredata, puredata-core,
puredata-gui,...) and pd-pdp.
