Looking at the couchdb git I assumed that this was fixed in upstream 1.1.1 (the patch was posted on 2011-10-18). However I'm still seeing this using Debian's couchdb 1.1.1-1 (testing).
Specifically: validate_doc_update() in design/_auth in the _users database fails with "compilation_error". (This means you can't create new users in a stock installation. Implementing the workaround for these default functions would mean patching src/couchdb/couch_js_functions.hrl ) Am I incorrect in my understanding of the situation wrt upstream 1.1.1?
