I think I know why this "bug" came: When I sued GDM versio 2.* , I also configured command line flags of X-server. One of those flags I am used to use is: "-dpi 100". In GDM3 it is not possible to configure it, at all. At least I haven't found a way to do it. Therefore uunder GDM3 my X-server uses some default dpi-value.
