From anywhere on the desktop? If you don't have access to a console (because you don't have a shortcut on the desktop or on the panel and can't access the application menu via control-escape), you can run it from the primary console (Control-Alt-F1) and, once logged, run: DISPLAY=:0 xfwm4 --daemon You could also remove the session cache (in .cache/sessions).
