That's weird -- it looks like python-vte is missing something, but I'm no python guru, so I can't suggest a fix off the top of my head. I'll set up a virtual environment with the exact versions of the various packages you've got at some stage, but it might be a little while. Could you send me the versions on your system of all of the packages that python-vte depends on? Upgrading every few days and checking if this bug still exists would be helpful, too, as there may be some sort of transient problem in unstable that will be corrected shortly.
