I'm not convinced that is the same issue although the log messages are
quite similar.
Please Antti, could you test the last Debian kernel (3.1.1-1) and see if
disabling rx
checksumming fix your issue (ethtool -K ethX rx off).

I use the last squeeze kernel (2.6.32-39), but I tried 3.1.1-1 and there
is no improvement,
I create a script which download in a loop a Debian netinstall iso and
sadly the failure appeared
after the tenth iteration:

[15302.816026] sky2 0000:03:00.0: eth1: hung mac 124:66 fifo 195
(50:45), follow by a lot of
[15024.816308] sky2 0000:03:00.0: eth1: rx error, status 0x7ffc0001
length 1004 messages.

But what has changed with this kernel version is that the system freeze
(X, keyboard, etc.), so
I'll 'echo 1 > /proc/sys/kernel/sysrq' in order to retrieve the control
of the system and collect some useful information (dmesg, etc.).
