Hi! I’m the author of ngIRcd.
What about the fullowing package description? Description: lightweight Internet Relat Chat server ngIRCd is a lightweight Internet Relat Chat server for small or private networks. It is simple to configure, can cope with dynamic IP addresses, and supports IPv6 as well as SSL. It is written from scratch, not based on the original IRCd and quite portable. The „does not support IRC services“ part is wrong since a few releases, because „IRC Services“ as well as „Anope“ is used by some installations and is (mostly) working. I have to fix our homepage, too … so thanks for this discussion ;-) I agree that the name of this IRC daemon isn’t that great, and you are right, „next generation“ is quite a dumb prefix. But that’s what I named it back in 2000 (?); and that’s what the daemon is called today. See it as a „unique identifier“ not as a „package description“. And I wouldn’t name it that way again – but this doesn’t help today ;-) Regards Alex -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe". Trouble?
