OK, I've actually tried 0.89f (I don't care much for the visual changes but they're minor so acceptable. (I've started playing 0.89c in 2004, so after 7 years, I can afford to be a bit set in my ways, eh?)). And I haven't been able to run the GGI version (but I know nothing about GGI so it may have been something trivial, if you want, we can debug it later). The patch (or at least the important part, src/SDL*.c) needs very minor changes to be appliable to 0.89f so next time, I'll provide both versions so that Gergely can decide what to do in Debian.
