  Well, one normally notices and files bugs for untransitioned packages
  when one dist-upgrades and apt wants to remove a package depending on
  the library. As no packages depend on this library, nobody will be
  able to notice this way.

  Only way that I can think of is somebody locally compiling a program
  that uses the lib; and they'll found about it breaking when they
  recompile their program with gcc 4, not when they "try to upgrade
  their systems".

  So you should know better if this is a likely scenario or not.

  Either by removing it, or by fixing it, the RC should be closed soon,
  FSV of "soon".
