Yup, I already have an open Ubuntu bug about exactly the same. :-)

You can add a HAL policy to do that (set
storage.policy.default.mount_option.exec to true). Look at
/etc/hal/fdi/policy/preferences.fdi for an example and in
hal-device-manager for possible attributes. However, I just noticed
that pmount-hal does not read this attribute, I will add it soon.
