You saw the new data in firefox because I guess you were logged in as described here: https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Wikipedia:Bypass_your_cache#Server_cache Adding no-cache as the default option for everybody would result in bad performance for alot of services thats why servers have these caches and upstream disabled it by default.
