Package: udev
Version: 0.068-2
Severity: serious

I'm running (primarily) Debian testing. Apt-get complains upon
downloading and attempting to install udev 0.068-2:

(Reading database ... 163044 files and directories currently installed.)
Preparing to replace udev 0.056-3 (using .../archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.deb)
...
udev requires a kernel >= 2.6.12, upgrade aborted.
  dpkg: error processing /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.deb
(--unpack):
subprocess pre-installation script returned error exit status 1
  Errors were encountered while processing:
   /var/cache/apt/archives/udev_0.068-2_i386.deb
  E: Sub-process /usr/bin/dpkg returned an error code (1)

This halts my upgrade and leaves packages in an unconfigured state.
After "apt-get upgrade" fails, I have to follow this up with "apt-get
install" to install and configure other packages downloaded at the same
time as udev.

Kernels 2.6.12 and newer are not yet available in testing or unstable.
Please revert to version 0.056-3 which is apparently the newest version
that works with kernels currently available from Debian repositories.
Otherwise, find a way to make the package compatible with older kernels.
