Targetting experimental at this point was mostly being cautious as the diff from the previous upstream is huge, but there was a suggestion in #586129 that there were API changes in 2.8.11 (the previous version packaged was 2.8.10): However, there are also API changes at least in wxPython (some flags are now passed differently for example) so I am not sure if one would want to upload a new package right away. I've not been able to work out what that was referring to though. So I think for now we're going to try to live with my early move to unstable and just address any issues as we hit them, rather than try to revert to 2.8.10.
