Package: c-icap Version: 1:0.1.6-1 Severity: normal c-icap doesn't detach from the terminal and doesn't close fds before going in the background.
stdin/stdout/stderr are left as is. I could see crash messages in libclamav on the terminal where "service c-icap restart" had been run. Also, c-icap puts itself in background *before* the TCP socket is bound or the control fifo open which means failure to do those are not reported and there's a window during which c-icap has been started but its services are not available. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers testing APT policy: (500, 'testing'), (50, 'unstable'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 3.0.0-1-amd64 (SMP w/4 CPU cores) Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages c-icap depends on: ii adduser 3.113 ii libc6 2.13-21 ii libdb5.1 5.1.25-11 ii libicapapi0 1:0.1.6-1 ii lsb-base 3.2-28 c-icap recommends no packages.
