This problem is already known by the menu package maintainers (which is the package providing su-to-root). There's already a bug report requesting it to use sudo when the system is ubuntuized...:-) I don't have that bug report number handy here (let's say it's xxxxxx), but the correct course of actions is: reassign 644549 menu forcemerge 644549 xxxxxx thanks
