Hmm, looks like your problem is not the one described in <http://lists.thekelleys.org.uk/pipermail/dnsmasq-discuss/2011q3/005247.html> then, but something new. Please could you send me a copy of /etc/dnsmasq.conf, and the results of strace /usr/sbin/dnsmasq -d for both 2.57-1 and 2.58-3 (you will need to stop the system daemon with /etc/init.d/dnsmasq stop before running the above tests.)
