Hi, thanks. That's the reason. Purging the old package iceweasel-l10n-en-us resolved the problem.
But I should mention, that my debian system was totally up-to-date before I wrote the bug report. There where no unsresolved dependencies or other inconsistencies in the packaging system and the related package was not set to hold. Iceweasel 6.x itself was no longer installed. So I never expected that the automatic upgrade from 6.x to 7.x left some conflicting packages in my system. In my opinion the language pack should be dropped automatically during installation of iceweasel 7.x.
