Seems to depend on the application which has currently the focus.
While it works well with xterms, it doesn't seem to work with Firefox
and e.g. pressing space for scrolling down one page.

Please note that the SourceForge project you mentioned above is not
the upstream of the unclutter Debian package but rather a fork of the
upstream of this Debian package.

That fork currently only consists of one more patch applied while the
Debian package has a similar patch applied, but a mor complex one with
more features.

The next upload of unclutter will clarify this in the freshly added
README.Debian file.
