What is currently holding back npm packaging progress is the need for some helper libs being packaged as well, as mentioned here: http://lists.alioth.debian.org/pipermail/pkg-javascript-devel/2011-September/001756.html Help packaging is certainly appreciated. Please consider using existing Node packages as basis for new packages, though, unless you intend to maintain the packages yourself: I use same packaging style (CDBS and git-buildpackage) across quite a lot of packages and it is little help for me to adopt packages prepared using different packaging styles.
