That's interesting. I'm sorry to comment so late on the issue, but
could you confirm that just removing ~/.gstreamer-0.8 is enough to get
things working again?
I'm maintaining the GStreamer packages right now, and received other
reports where removing the dir solved the issue.
I think these are traces leftover from previous GStreamer versions, and
while they might now behave correctly, there's no easy way to wipe them
out automatically... :-/
