I'm seeing what I believe is the same problem. As far as I can tell,
dh_builddeb really isn't generating anything because it doesn't see that
anything exists for it to do.
Working in a fakeroot environment on an amd64 system, I ran 'alien
--veryverbose -g MegaCLI-4.00.16-1.i386.rpm' to unpack the RPM and
prepare for build, then cd'd to the appropriate directory and ran
'debian/rules binary'. When I inserted debug statements into dh_builddeb
before and at the top of the 'foreach my $package (@{$dh{DOPACKAGES}})'
loop, I saw that @{dh{DOPACKAGES}} contains no elements.
