fwiw, I haven't had this problem since upgrading to linux-image-3.0.0-1-amd64 about three weeks ago, and have been suspending daily. My card: 00:19.0 Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection (rev 04) The machine is a ThinkPad T420.
