I am going through some old bug reports for the Inkscape package in Debian. You reported the following some time ago: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=527505 Please could you confirm that you still have trouble opening linked SVG files (without librsvg2-common installed) when you use a newer version of the Inkscape package?
