Hmm, no. There is a real design bug in play: we cannot trust metadata to be in sync *across* mirrors, and we cannot trust the network backends to always connect to the same mirror. The multiple DNS lookups bug just breaks a workaround for that design bug that works well in a particular case (fortunately, a common one): persistent connections.
