I'm sorry if I was unclear, but rootdelay does NOT help in this situation.

As the documentation explains, rootdelay delays between SCSI scan and
mdadm / LVM assembly / scan.

I need a delay between mdadm assembly and LVM scan, not after SCSI scan.

It seems the local-top/lvm2 starts BEFORE local-top/mdadm is finished.

The "sleep 2" was the only thing which works consistently. Probably a
udevadm settle or something should also do the trick. I'll try that
and report back.
