Dominic, thanks for you explanations.

What are the proposed workarounds? E.g. in my case I need to run few
Perl scripts under root (at least to elevate to "disk" group), which are
called by Cacti grapher to collect S.M.A.R.T HDD information.

Is /etc/sudoers the right way for that?
