Package: xscreensaver Version: 4.21-3 Severity: normal My daughter likes to look at screensavers (yeah, OK, so she's a little odd--she's only 6 though :-)) so I created a link my desktop to run the xscreensaver-demo command. It works fine and she's happy to click around trying new screensavers in demo mode.
The bad part is, the xscreensaver-demo program doesn't clean up properly all the time. Sometimes I'll come back to my system and the load monitor is pegged and the system is crawling, and top reveals 8 or 9 xscreensaver-demo programs running, chewing up CPU. I kill them and then everything is fine... until the next time. It's difficult to quantify exactly when this happens: whether it happens only when she closes the app through the window manager (by clicking on the destroy icon in the window decoration) or also when she chooses File->Quit; whether it happens only with some hacks and not others, etc. I can try to get some kind of reproducible recipe, but I thought I'd report this anyway to see if anyone had any ideas.
