Yes, good idea. Unfortunately, it already works for me: for example, I sometimes use "GIT_NOTES_REF=refs/remotes/charon/notes/full gitk origin/pu" to find out what's cooking in git. It seems this was supposed to have been fixed by v1.7.5-rc2~9^2~10 (gitk: Show notes by default (like git log does), 2010-05-20). Any hints for reproducing this?
