JFTR: The home page of Links 1 is http://www.jikos.cz/~mikulas/links/ and it's indeed still under developement. 1.01pre1 is from December 2009 and 1.01 is from March 2011. So if anyone wants to reintroduce links1 into Debian, I (as links2 maintainer) am happily dropping or renaming the current links package which is built from the links2 source package and is effectively links2 without graphics support (and therefore with less heavy dependencies).
