I'm not a release manager, but the Libav maintainer in Debian. Still, could you please consider including the patch from #634818 before uploading to unstable? I'm confident that the #ifdef version checks are a bit too strict and that the patch should also work with some minor adjustments with Libav 0.6 currently in wheezy.
