Please explain your problem in more detail. Did it happen after an upgrade? Do you get any related error messages in ~/.xsession-errors? Any other error messages?
Do you have you gnome-panel set to transparent? Maybe it's duplicate of #633573 Michael -- Why is it that all of the instruments seeking intelligent life in the universe are pointed away from Earth?
