You seem to be talking about the DHCP client setting and sending a
hostname (to the DHCP server, for dynamic DNS maybe?).

Whereas, I wish to receive a hostname from the DHCP server, and have it
set locally. I want my DHCP client to receive both an IP address and a
hostname from the DHCP server (as set in the server config file), and
have them both set or used locally on the client.

Maybe these bugs are related...
