Hi, This is about: http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=446560
As I understand, original bug reporter wished to "retrieve messages by invoking command to get IMAP connection". I commented as: > > I see there is comments in the retrievers.py as: > > # imaplib.IMAP4.login_cram_md5() requires the (unimplemented) > > # .authenticate(), so we can't do this yet (?). > > > > So if someone uses newer python2.5 etc. or some nice module, implimenting it > > may be relatively simple. I will tag this moreinfo seeking patch. Then Josh replied: > I don't know the context of this comment, I thought if this part of script is finished, then your wish of "getmail should have a retriever or retriever option to invoke a command and use that as the connection." may be addressed. Anyway, this /usr/share/getmail4/getmailcore/retrievers.py seemed directly corresponding to the missing feature. My point is just point out pertinent part of the code which had interesting comment by the upstream. > but I don't see how > authentication relates; connecting to an IMAP server directly bypasses > the need for authentication, providing a preauthenticated connection > that starts out logged in as the local user invoking the IMAP server. > I have no idea ... if you know, please send us patch then I will forward this. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to debian-bugs-dist-requ...@lists.debian.org with a subject of "unsubscribe".
