Package: triggerhappy

Hi,
The triggerhappy package description says:
Triggerhappy watches connected input devices for certain key
presses or other input events and runs
administrator-configured commands when they occur.
The esekeyd package description says:
ESE Key Daemon is a multimedia keyboard daemon for Linux. With
the 2.6 kernel series it can also handle remote controls, as
they are presented as keyboards. No kernel patch is required.
It is a userspace program that pools /dev/input/event?
interfaces for incoming keyboard key presses.
If the sysadmin looking at one even happens to notice that the other
exists, there is no obvious way to tell which is better for the task
at hand. In fact, the triggerhappy description seems to imply that
packages like esekeyd do not exist:
Unlike other hotkey daemons, it runs as a persistent,
systemwide service
I suppose I would be happiest if (but of course the goal is not to
make me happy but to help people):
- the phrase "other hotkey daemons" were made more precise. For
example, "Unlike some hotkey daemons, such as that contained in the
'hotkeys' package, ...".
- the description mentioned why someone would want to install this
package as opposed to other hotkey daemons that run outside of X,
such as esekeyd.
Similar concerns apply to esekeyd (it does not explain what
relationship it has to triggerhappy), so I will clone this report with
the following message. Note that I am not trying to push some agenda
of advocating one package over the other; on the contrary, correct
descriptions of packages should help people understand the software
well enough to sort themselves into niches so the packages would no
longer be competing (after all, these are free programs with
compatible licenses).
Details from http://bugs.debian.org/603842 might be helpful to anyone
working on this. Thoughts welcome, as always.
