Here's the developper's answer upstream:

"From the looks of it, that is due to Skype 2.1 and newer being
incompatible with old versions of the plugin.  Any version > 201012*
should be new enough to work with Skype 2.1 and 2.2.  I believe that
there are old versions of the plugin in Debian and that old version
should say it needs less than version 2.1"

So I think we could close this bug, knowing that update of the plugin
has the bug 630731 not fixed yet. When it is fixed, maybe we could do
some backport?
