Indeed, though ... as far as I read [1], long filenames for .deb files
are also a problem.  I sort of assume that .udebs should also be checked
here.  Steve, can you verify this or correct me?

For these CDs, are packages (debs) stored as they are on the mirror
(e.g. $pkg_$ver_$arch.{,u}deb)?  If so, I suspect the limit is really
more like 80 - length($longest_arch_name)
