Package: ntp-simple
Version: 1:4.2.0a+stable-2sarge1
Followup-For: Bug #307460

I don't have much more to report besides what Bas said, except to
confirm that I had the same problem. Using a hostname with
an AAAA and an A record causes ntpd to dump core; switching to
a different hostname with only the same A record, or the IPv4
address itself, everything works fine. My platform is also
very different (big-endian, sparc, 2.4, vs little-endian, x86,
2.6).
