It is probably what we should do... We cannot use JDK from the url you sent. We have to use http://jdk-distros.java.net/ And the ia64 version has been failing for a while: https://buildd.debian.org/status/logs.php?pkg=sun-java6&arch=ia64 I don't have time to track the reason of the seg fault under ia64 but I would be happy to apply any patch.
