Hi, thanks for the patch and sorry for the delay. Do you have a way to reliably reproduce this? update-a-x-i has its own locking system around xapian, which seems to be failing in this case. The locking strategy of u-a-x-i is would be attach to an already running indexer instead of raising an error, so before applying this patch I'd like to see if there isn't something else to fix instead.
