I am using XFCE as my desktop environment. I have also installed Google Chrome Beta from Google's website. Using the XFCE settings manager, I set Chrome as the default browser. When I opened Chrome the first time, it asked me whether I wanted to set Chrome as the default browser. I pressed "Yes". Later, I realized that Chrome had actually become unset as the default browser. Essentially, when I choose to make Chrome the default browser from Chrome's settings manager, it becomes unset as the default browser in the XFCE settings. This suggests that there is some sort of conflict between Chrome and XFCE.
