Hello, looking more in this the utilities are simple to implement using the init script: soundon: /etc/init.d/oss4-base start soundoff: /etc/init.d/oss4-base stop && /etc/init.d/oss4-base unload The init script does not provide sane interface for stop: it only saves mixer settings but does not unload which requires specialcasing oss4. Other services that interfere with suspend can be just included in the list of services to be stopped prior to suspend but oss4 needs special unload handling. One such handler is upstream provided soundoff. At least for compatibility reasons the script should be included.
