Package: unscd
Version: 0.47-2
Severity: normal

Actually the socket /var/run/nscd/socket is created each time unscd is
restarted.

Since I couldn't get rid of this message I reverted to nscd.
Then, when I read your answer I reinstalled unscd.
And I can't explain why, but I didn't see this message anymore when adding a
user
to a group (but there is a lot of debug messages as described in #622230).

pitchum@belgarion:~$ LC_ALL=C sudo adduser pitchum staff
Adding user `pitchum' to group `staff' ...

Done.

However the error message still shows up when I restart the service:

pitchum@belgarion:~$ LC_ALL=C sudo service unscd restart
Restarting Micro Name Service Cache Daemon: unscdsent shutdown request, exiting
cannot connect to /var/run/nscd/socket
.
