Package: vsftpd
Version: 2.3.2-3
Severity: important

Default configuration of vsftpd after installation on Debian 6.01 sparc64:

==============================================================
$ ftp localhost
Connected to localhost.
421 Service not available, remote server has closed connection
ftp>
==============================================================

It looks like vsftpd is forking for the new user, but then the forked process
drops the connection (and never exits).

If I recall this is not what happens by default on i386, so the bug appears to
be architecture-specific.

Various attempts to fix it by modifying configuration files have failed, so it
may be a bug in the binary.
