Package: dbus Version: 1.5.2-1 Severity: normal I feel this should be titled critical, but not sure.
After upgrading to 1.5.1-2 from -1, gdm3 fails to start. I manually downgraded to -1 using dpkg -i, and gdm3 started. Just to check, upgraded back to -2, and the problem reappared, after reboot. Not when I simply restarted gdm3 manually. The problem is not dbus-x11, since right now, version 1.5.2-2 is what is installed right now, and manually restarting gdm3 after downgrading libdbus and dbus works. BTW, xorg.log was complaining about inability to initialise nvidia modules. I had upgraded nvidia modules to 275.09.04-1, (building from nvidia-kernel-source) and had initially attributed the problem to upgraded of that; but since downgrading nvidia-kernel-source did not help, finally pinpoint this to dbus. -- System Information: Debian Release: wheezy/sid APT prefers unstable APT policy: (500, 'unstable'), (500, 'testing'), (1, 'experimental') Architecture: amd64 (x86_64) Kernel: Linux 2.6.39-2-amd64 (SMP w/1 CPU core) Locale: LANG=en_IN, LC_CTYPE=en_IN (charmap=UTF-8) Shell: /bin/sh linked to /bin/dash Versions of packages dbus depends on: ii adduser 3.112+nmu2 add and remove users and groups ii libc6 2.13-5 Embedded GNU C Library: Shared lib ii libdbus-1-3 1.5.2-1 simple interprocess messaging syst ii libexpat1 2.0.1-7 XML parsing C library - runtime li ii libselinux1 2.0.98-1+b1 SELinux runtime shared libraries ii lsb-base 3.2-27 Linux Standard Base 3.2 init scrip dbus recommends no packages.
